Pennine Shooting Sports Association at Diggle Shooting Ranges

The buildings and ranges were constructed by the Army around 1897, but there are records of shooting dating back to 1861.  Nowadays, the PSSA provides a calendar of events and competitions for its members.

The Horseboating Society

The HBS is dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage use of our waterways with horse drawn craft.  It plays a major role in celebrating Diggle’s Standedge Tunnel by taking annual trips through the tunnel using traditional canal boats and crews of local ‘leggers’.

Diggle Band Club

Diggle Band Club is tucked away near to the junction of Sam Road and Huddersfield Road.  Alison Clowes welcomes you to enjoy an excellent selection of beers and lagers from £2.15 per pint.  The club opening hours are:

Monday and Thursday from 8.30pm

Tuesday and Wednesday from 7.30pm

Friday from 6.30pm

Sunday from 3pm to 7pm

Saturday closed

Watch out for concerts and live bands in the next few months. The club is available for hire for birthdays and special events. Membership is £10 per year.

Diggle Band

Diggle Band is a traditional amateur English Pennine village brass band.  It consists of 25 players, 2 percussionists and a conductor.  The band performs regularly at local and national concerts and participates in several brass band competitions throughout the year.

Diggle ‘B’ Band

Diggle B Band was formed nearly ten years ago, combining experienced players and novices emerging from the Trainer Band.  The Band rehearses every Friday evening between 7.30 and 9.30.  New members of all ages are welcome.

Diggle Band Contest Committee

Diggle Band Contest Committee is responsible for organising Diggle’s Whit Friday Band Contest. Many fund-raising events are held throughout the year to raise the £3,000 needed to cover the cost of prizes and general organisation. The committee welcomes support from Diggle residents especially when Whit Friday approaches.

Diggle School Parent Teacher Association

The PTA is a cohesive team who support the work of the school by organising social activities and events that contribute to the school’s finances.  Our aim is to enhance the children, staff and the school by developing a sense of community in and out of the school.

All parents who have a child attending the school automatically join the PTA.  Meetings are held once a month at the school.  More details are available on Diggle school’s website.

Huddersfield Canal Society

Having achieved its aim of restoring the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to provide through navigation, the Huddersfield Canal Society continue to take an active role in the canal’s future by assisting British Waterways with operational and development initiatives.

Diggle Air Cadets

Activities that offer challenge, excitement and adventure and a great chance to make new friends and pick up new skills and knowledge.  The Air Cadets is the place to be – Summer camps at RAF bases in UK and overseas, adventure training, train to fly, gain leadership skills.   It is a serious commitment to be a cadet – but once you’ve experienced it yourself we know you wouldn’t have it any other way.
